Last week, I had an impromptu lunch with my mom and daughter. We ate at Anassa Taverna in Astoria. Everything was yummy.

I’ve always wanted to check out this restaurant. I finally got the opportunity earlier this month having lunch with a good friend.

My friend had the mofongo with chicharron and loved it. I had the bistec with onions and rice and I brought home the pernil and rice. My bistec was okay but the pernil was amazing.
The restaurant has a very cozy vibe, and I look forward to coming back with my family.
Last month, we had dinner at Mokja in Astoria. The food was amazing, and I still can’t forget how cute this restaurant was.

The restaurant had a very romantic kind of vibe. There were lights and flowers everywhere.

Another thing I loved about the restaurant was that it had a lot of personal touches. They had bag holders at each table. They also had bowls, cups, and silverware for kids. It was so cute and made my daughter feel special.

I will definitely be back. I recommend it for date nights, families, and small groups.
Summer is here, and I’m all for it! This year, I decided to turn my bucket list into a bingo game to motivate myself and keep me present. Most of the time, I get caught up with life, so I hope this will keep me focused throughout the summer and, most importantly, have fun with my family. I’ll report back on how I’m doing.

Friday was a little chaotic in New York due to the earthquake. I didn’t notice because I was checking out the cherry blossoms in the neighborhood. I felt the tremors a couple of hours later though! A friendly reminder to take a moment and enjoy nature.

Maxine and I had a fun time at a holiday celebration on Steinway Street this weekend.

Summer wouldn’t be summer without a street fair happening somewhere. My family and I got to enjoy two in the past week.

The family and I recently had lunch at Mad for Chicken in Astoria. It had a bar feel but was still family-friendly. We ordered the wings and drumsticks combo (soy garlic and honey bbq flavor), japchae, and fries. All yummy!

My family and I randomly came across the new Nuts Factory on 30th Avenue in Astoria. They have an impressive selection of nuts, gummies, and chocolate.

We went a little nuts (pun intended) and got a variety of goodies. I selected strawberry and watermelon gummies and a crunchy corn mix. My husband, Andrew, got a few chocolate pieces, and we got our daughter Maxine banana chips.
A bit pricey but worth a visit in my book.
